The Wildemount Campaign DnD 5e
The Wildemount Campaign
The Beginning of the Campaign
Our campaign begins in the continent of Wildmount in the world known as exandria The year is 846 post divergence about 10 years after the adventures of the group known as the Mighty Nein. This new campaign will start in the Dwendalian Empire on the road to Alfield. On the mild midsummer day of the 8th of Brussundir. The weather is warm as a group of merchant wagons with their guards slowly make their way along the road out of Zadash to the south. As they travel through the farmlands outside the city becoming more and more rural slowly giving way to wilderness as night starts to fall and the group found a sheltered place just off the road to camp.
Malik grew up in the streets of Hupperdook after being orphaned at a young age. He learned to survive with the help of others in his situation which was pretty easy up until he began to get a little older. Then the stakes began to rise, and he was always running from the Crowns guard to keep from getting drafted, or arrested. He always seemed to get just enough to keep him going with a little coin in his pocket. Malik doesn’t make friends quickly, very slow to trust, but once you’re in, you’re in. One Fateful night a group of his buddies and a couple of newbies hatched a plan to snatch some gold from a nobleman. The plan went south and the newbies were caught. Of course the ones who were caught talked. Mallick and his other buddies had to split up and found their various means to skip town. Mallick hired on to a caravan as a scullery boy and made his way to Zadash where he picked up right where he left off in Hupperdook.
After a time in Zadash he managed to impress Ophilia Mardoon who guided him into bigger and better things. This was one of those things he was told to bring a package safely and discreetly to a myriad contact named Book in the small crossroad town of Alfield.
The war of Ash and Light has been over for 10 years, the truce brokered by the Mighty Nein is still holding and there are tensions in relations between the Empire and the Dynasty. There has been increased trade between the Clovis Accord and the Tal'Dorei Republic which is straining relations with the Dwendalian empire. Within the empire, there is increased unrest and calls for the formation of a more representative government rather than the fascist empire. This is a time of tension and rebellion. In reaction, the Crown and the Cerberus Assembly in conjunction with the Righteous Brand are forcibly crushing any rebellions they uncover. The Cobalt soul as usual strives to uncover corruption and balance out the power of the crown and Cerberus Assembly, while protecting the rights of the people.
This unrest in the Empire and the crown guard clamping down is causing more and more folks to call for reform. The Merchants Guilds see the benefits and profits of a more global economy opening up more sky ports and global trade routes. For years, the "Myriad'' has been taking advantage of this to bring in exotic goods for high prices and profits. This is probably what is in the package Ophilia had entrusted to him Malik mused He had hired on as a guard for a caravan heading to Alfield which is a safer more incognito way of travel not drawing undue attention a lone traveler might draw. He kept to himself for the most part but didn't go out of his way to ignore the others he traveled with. He was just the average guy unremarkable unrememberable, just another common guard, only one with a secret.
Corvar too was traveling with the caravan toward Alfield He has completed Cleric Basic training and been sent out into the world to experience, observe, and learn about the common people and assist them where possible.
