Arrival in Molaesmyr (Recap from 3-31-23)
(Folsen the 23th of Quen'pillar) The morning came early to the party as they huddled in their tiny hut, against the necrotic chill of the Savalirwood. Haunting moans were heard through the nights and oddly every 30 minutes or so a small barely perceivable pulse of necrotic arcane power could be felt. Elmo sent out his familiar to scout for the Jaegentoths party, they found that the party was further behind than they had thought. They wouldn't arrive in Molaesmyr until the next day around the third watch later in the afternoon.
The party explored the ruins and found ghosts and a monstrous Behir sleeping in a 30 foot circular chamber, Mallik stealthily locked the beast in the room without awakening it. The party slayed some ghosts, turned some others, and talked to some who thought the party members were the ghosts. They find the Trebian expedition had excavated an underground chamber they had tried to activate an ancient power source from a forgotten time in the Age of Arcanum. They explored the excavation and found all the members of the Trebian Expedition dead and turned into ghosts. They warned the party of what they had found in the containment chamber and the pulses of necrotic arcane energy that sucked the life out of anyone who stayed too long. They explored the ruins and found a wrecked control chamber with an arcane focus in the form of a gilded chair set in a magic circle. Elmo took his place in the chair and focused on keeping the containment of the object while four other members of the party pulled four levers at the same time overloading the rift holding the object and instantly banishing it into a pocket dimension in the shadowfell.
The party set up the tiny hut and had a long rest to prepare for the arrival of the Jaegentoths party who would be arriving the next day.
(Yulisen the 24th of Quen'pillar) The next day the party took the dead bodies of the Trebian Expedition and arranged them in a way that seemed to lead to the locked chamber containing the sleeping Behir, in hopes the monster would weaken the Jaegentoths then the party would attack the weakened survivors. Their plan worked better than had been anticipated. The Behir wiped out the Jaegentoths in a ferocious battle even chasing down the last two who tried in vain to flee. But there was a cost to the beast; it was severely wounded in the process of killing the Jagentoths. The party took advantage of this and attacked, killing the Behir before it could react. The party set about looting the area and skinning the dead Behir, the party then contacted Ophilia, using the special mirror, who said she would message to Book (The myriad wizard) who will send further instructions. Book later messaged Elmo and sent instructions on how to scribe a teleportation circle. After Elmo had studied it and scribed the circle, Book instructed Elmo to hold the special Mirror so that Book could memorize the circle. A short time later Book appears in the circle Elmo had scribed. He greets the party and says “Shall we leave?” He cast the spell again and as the party stepped into the circle they saw the sun cut through the gloom for the first time in 200 years. Leaves of green seemed to pop through the purple foliage and the sound of birds could be heard in the wind.
In an instant, the next thing the party saw was Ophelia's darkened drawing room. They collected the bounty on the Jaegentoth party. Elmo requested permission to memorize Ophelia's circle. She allowed this with the provision that she be allowed to touch Elmo's neck, he agreed and she put an arcane mark on Elmo’s neck which briefly flared then faded until it was gone. This done she welcomed the group into Myriad service. They then had drinks, after which Elmo teleported the party to the circle scribed in their Hupperdook Lair. That night the party had a long rest and gained 10th level.
