Dangerous Designs (Recap from 12-23-22)

(Folsen the 21st of Sydenstar) Hucksters Heroes, had a much needed long peaceful rest in the Forest Inn, during their breakfast, a crowns guard came in with a message from Watchmaster Bram Gulchswattle, to come by for an urgent conference. The party went down to the Iron lot and spoke with the Watchmaster, apparently there have been a rash of disappearances on city folks “INSIDE the city walls!” (While the party went to see the watch master. Svela went to tend the horses and practice her riding skills, by exercising each of the horses every day. Since she is caring for the mounts, and the stable hands didn't have to do anything, instead of 5sp a day, the boarding rate was reduced to 2sp a day.) Bram asked the party to help find the missing citizens, and will pay 250 gold per citizen retrieved and brought home.

After talking with the Watchmaster, the party went to Udoth and sold some of their loot from the previous encounters and Mallik got a message from Book saying “Mallik, this is book, Yirna has been taken to underdark, lost contact with her, please help, Ophilia is worried. You may reply to this message.” The party then went to Check on Nima Cinnarid in the northern part of the Ironlot and found signs of a tussle going on and a scream then silence the front door was slightly ajar so Corin boldly rushed in and was confronted by a room full of Kobolds, and two swarms of rats combat ensued. After a lengthy combat the foes were vanquished and their bodies started exploding creating quite the mess in Nima’s house. One of the Kobold Dragonshields managed to Grab Nima and escape while the party was in combat with the others.





The only clues left in the carnage was red mud on the boots of the dead kobolds. The Crowns guard suggested they take a sample to “The Lay of the Land Herbalist” and ask Zendasa as she is into that type of thing. They went to see the Herbalist who tasted the “mud” spitting it out abruptly she exclaimed “That's not MUD! That's Bat Guano!” Nima brought her a sample from a cave at the top of Silver Falls. Malik Had been to the top of the Falls before it's a long trek and an altitude rise of over 1000 feet. The trail is narrow and not all that safe. The party started off at lunch time and made camp in a small hollow near the halfway point. The party did notice there had been recent traffic on this trail and one set of tracks was that of a small horse or pony, they surmised this could be Yirna’s tracks.

(22nd of Sydenstar) The next day they made the ascent to the top of the falls. They found the hidden path behind the falls leading to the cave full of guano. They had surprise and snuck in and freed Nima who was chained at a work bench forced to make little bombs.She was appreciative and gave the party a sack of 15 of the little acorn sized bombs. She was going to make her way back down and bring a squad of Crowns Guard to help the party. After that, having the element of surprise the party attacked the 6 Kobolds and Goliath Sken. After the first attack most of them were killed and Sken put in chains. After killing the remaining Kobolds and watching themselves detonate spraying Kobold around the cave, they looted 200gp and 250sp, and 1000cp, as well as Sken’s “Ring of Obscurity”. They also discovered 7 keys to the Heavy steel door in the back of the cave and Sken had two keys to the sets of Shackles attached to the workbenches in the cave.



They decided to take Sken back to Jail and collect the 500gp reward and also collect 500gp for saving Nima. They met up with Nima binding her wounds at the halfway point and escorted her back to town. She was upset at the disaster area her house had turned into and decided to salvage what she could and stay at The Forest Inn with the adventures. The party turned in their prisoner and collected the reward and headed back to their rooms at The Forest Inn for a warm meal, some good music, and to relax by the fire planning their next actions.
