Svela's Memory Crystal (Recap from 4-14-23)
Svela's Memory Crystal (Recap from 4-14-23)
(Da’Leysen the 5th of Cuersaar) After a week of relaxing, shopping, and crafting, as well as many long rests in their Lair. The group bamphed(teleported) to their clan hall in Grimgolir. Some of the letters Abnar had sent out have returned. His father had agreed to allow Abnar to establish an Invictus distributorship in Grimgolir. His family was happy to hear from him and glad that he was doing ok, they didn't have much information on the Ashlans other than they were “difficult” people.
The group went to see the King and to see if they could somehow get the proof of Svelas innocence. The king called for the Oracle, when she got there she explained that her family has the ability to create psychic crystals and imprint memories on the crystal. She dropped a small clear crystal into Abner's hand, At once, Abner relived the experiences as Svela on the day she was accosted by Ichabod Ashelon eight years earlier. The process was a very unsettling experience for him. Afterwards the oracle suggested handling the crystal with gloves lest the memories will flood whoever holds it.
The group thanked the king and agreed to go to Rexxentrum to try and smooth things over with the Crown about the corrupt Starosta and how he assaulted a young girl working in the fields. Also to try and get talks going in Grimgolir between the Kryn and the Empire to unite against the Children of Malice and the Demon Lords in the underdark. Mallik sent word to Ophelia Mardoon, asking for any information they might have on the Ashlands. The consensus is that the family, especially Lady Gulina Ashlan and her sons Myron Ashlan, and Ichabod Ashelon, are pretty much evil assholes. Ophelia agrees to contact some of her resources and try to dig up dirt on the Ashlan family.
After that the group went to see Lassryn Bronzepride performing at “The Silverlodge Inn''. She thanked the group, especially Grok for delivering the package containing “a note and a mirror of talking” from Rystia Zav. It seems she was lonely and depressed in the underdark and longed to roam the sunlit forests of the surface world again, being able to chat with Lassryn helped and she actually smiled the last time they had talked. The restoration of Mantol-Derith is completed, and trade there has resumed. A lot of refugees are going there for shelter from the Demon Lord problem.
“Heroes,
Please reply to me when you read the enclosed note I received this day from a courier from Rexuntrum. Send your response though the Scribe delivering this message.
Brock Dummaroff”
The inclosed additional note read:
“Dummaroff,
Release my son or you will never see your guards or “her” again!
Lady Gulina Ashlan”
The group's reply was that they would come immediately and have a conference with the King.
Before the party could reply to the scribe, and leave, Yirna showed up with a mysterious hooded cloaked rider and asked to have some muffins, then without waiting for a reply went straight to the kitchen avoiding the scribe's gaze as well as almost everyone else. After getting the reply message the scribe left, and the group went to the kitchen and talked with Yirna.
The group found Eldeth Dummaroff had escaped the palace in search of adventure. Figuring it was safer having these two together Mallik paid them each 500 gp to go to Nogvurot and check on Svela. They loaded up on muffins and took off, as the party went to meet with the King. They found the King yelling at his guards to “FIND HER!” Evidently Eldeth had gone off in search of adventure again! With the current status in Wildmount. The King offered each party member a 5000 gp ruby for the safe return of Eldeth. The consensus was the party would go and try to find out who the Ashlans had, how to get them back, and to return the King's daughter.
(Miresen the 6th of Cuersaar) The group set off for the eleven day journey to Nogvurot. The first day out of Grimgolir the party saw signs that Yirna and Eldeth had taken off across the country through the wilderness, by-passing the safer road. The Party didn't encounter anything until the evening of the third day. A merchant caravan saw the horses tethered but with no sign of the owners(the Tiny Hut again), and decided to “rescue” the party's horses. Seeing this the party jumped out of the tiny hut and confronted the merchants. Who turned out to honestly only think the horses were abandoned. After a night of camping together, the parties went their separate ways.
(Whelson the 15th of Cuersaar) The next encounter didn't happen until the night of the eighth day when a black bear somehow aroused from his hibernation was scratching himself on a snow covered tree, before returning to his den. On the eleventh day (Yulisen the 18th of Cuersaar) the group met up with Yirna, and Eldeth, and journeyed into Nogrvurot and got rooms at “The Prancing Pony Inn” there the party questioned some of the locals as well as some of the righteous brand about rumors, and the Sedláková family. The rumors were:
“Grimgolir, Kryn, and the Children of Malice have summoned Demon Lords to take over the world.”
“Svela Sedláková robbed and killed a nobleman.”
“The Sedlakovas were traitors to the empire and were taken by Crowns Guards.”
“The empire is going to war with Grimgolir.”
“The Sedlakovas are really Kryn operatives.”
The party then talked to Svela’s Uncle who was unaware there was anything wrong out at the Sedlakova farm, but offered to take the party out there to check on them. On arriving, they found the farm abandoned, Yirna questioned the horses who said “men in black armor took the Sedlákovás and set a trap to take Svela and the dwarven guards prisoners leaving the horses to starve.”
Kobold Mining Profits for the second and third week of the fifth month, the Kobolds uncovered 2400 gp worth of platinum ingots and 3000 gp worth of cut Amber gems, (Subtracting the mine expenses of 1024 gp each party member gains 729 gp once they get back to the mine of course. (also 9 new kobold pups were hatched in the lair, the Kobolds multiplied faster than rabbits. Also with the scheduled deliveries the weekly cost went to 512 gp a week.)
