(Continued)Trip Back to Mantol-Derith on the Darklake (Recap from 6-23-23)

(Folsen the 5th of Horisal) After the bloody fierce battle the night watch found the Theurgeme at the Mouth of the Grimrun River transitioning to the Darklake with no hostile encounters.

(Yulisen the 6th of Horisal) The terrors of the night left behind, the cook prepared breakfast of questionable ingredients but that surprisingly tasted pretty good. The ship continued into the dark waters. During the fourth watch, six Quipper swarms start following the ship. The crew that was standing watch grabbed some Harpoons and started spearing and reeling in enough Quipers to make 168 fish filets, the cook was extremely busy rapidly cleaning the fish that were being caught. Some of the filets were hung up to dry, some put in cabinets of colding, some fried for snacks, and some put in a fish and mushroom stew for dinner. For the next few days fish would be on the menu. During the second watch of the night, the group encounters six Ropers hanging from a lower place in the cavern ceiling 30’ above the deck of the boat. The monsters managed to get a surprised attack on the watch standers and grappled several of the crew hoisting them into the air. The battle was fairly long as folks below deck roused by the sounds of combat came charging into battle. Eventually the adventures killed the ropers, and the captain anchored the ship while the party searched the area and harvested parts off the Ropers. The party harvested:

  • Six sets of six Roper Tendrils. Worth 2 gp each.

  • Six vials of Roper Stomach Acid. Worth  5 gp each.

  • Six intact Roper Shells. Worth 75 gp each.

  • Their stomachs and digestive tracts contained: 182 sp, 310 gp, 4025 cp, 72 ep.

The cook also harvested some Roper meat to add to the menu. The rest of the evening was uneventful.

(Da’Leysen the 7th of Horisal) The next day the Theurgeme sailed past the Zurkhwood Point. the familiar promontory that  juts out into darklake, featuring Gigantic Zurkhwood mushrooms. There were also several small islands that rose from the water around the point. Many of the islands had no hostile creatures and made good places for folks to take a long rest. There were all types of fungi growing atop the small islands. The Ship continued on into the night watch and during the fourth watch Abnar spotted floating debris in the water that looked like bits of broken ship, chests, sacks, and scattered shiny coins glittered from the sandy bottom. The water here is not that deep and the bottom is visible in the low light. Chardalyn said “well there's only one way to find out what it is”, dropping her robes, she dived naked into the dark water. Uthamar doffed his clothing as well and joined her in the water while the rest of the folks on deck looked out for dangers lurking in the water. It takes them one hour to collect all the salvage:

  • Coins: 1700 cp, 800 sp, 1630 gp, 1200 pp

  • Gems: 12 gems worth 1000 gp each [2 Obsidian, 4 Diamonds, 4 Moss agate, 2 Eye agate]

  • Magic Items (6): [8 Potion of Greater Healing (4d4 + 4)]

After the invigorating swim in the dark cold water, Chardalyn and Uthamar quickly dressed in their robes and had some hot tea while they relaxed below decks.

(Miresen the 8th of Horisal) In the morning just after finding the wreckage of the vessel, the party  encountered the bodies of  24 kuotoa in the process of being eaten by six monstrous demonic black puddings. The Captain ordered the engines cut off and let the ships forward momentum slowly silently carry the Ship by unnoticed as the Demonic beings continued their grizzly feast. The strategy worked and the horrific scene was left behind in the darkness. Once they had drifted far enough the Captain ordered full ahead and the ship surged forward into the darkness. That night during the third watch, the party on watch saw 5 Quipper swarms start following the ship.Nesdeth grabbed a net and managed to catch 8 fish. As she and the cook were cleaning them they found some of the fish had swallowed gems or eaten the unlucky owners of the gems The loot was:

  • Gems: 4 gems worth 1000 gp each [1 Zircon, 2 Onyx, 1 Jasper]

(Grissen the 9th of Horisal)During the next morning they saw the lights of Mantol-Derith, around noon the Captain dropped anchor a short ways off from the beach head. The group went into town to sell some of their harvested loot. Some of the Theurgeme Crew went along  with the party to reprovision. As they were walking through the Svirfneblin section of town they encountered:

  • Yantha Coaxrock Svirfneblin mage and leader of the Stoneheart Enclave

  • Flink Thunderbonk Yantha's svirfneblin apprentice

  • Gabble Dripskillet Svirfneblin chief negotiator

Gabble Dripskillet informs the party that there's trouble in Blingdenstone, several caravans of gems and ore are late getting through to Mantol-Derith. He offered the party each a 1000 gp gem if they could open the supply route again. Yantha Coaxrocks, had a sack of gems that needed to be delivered to Blingdenstone, as well as the remains of a dead Svirfneblin who bravely faced down a red dragon, allowing the others of his party to escape. In exchange for the help the Deep Gnomes offer each party member two blank spell gems as well as allowing the group to memorize the teleportation circle in Mantol-Derith. If they can clear the area of the teleportation circle in Blingdenstone they could memorize that one too, she will offer additional rewards as well once they get to Blingdenstone. Flink Thunderboink is willing to escort the party and allow them access to Blingdenstone. She is excited to go with the party on such an important mission. The party continued to go about their business. Rystia Zav spotted the party and invited them to stay and party with her and Lassryn Bronzepride in Rystia’s Yurt. So as it was getting near what would be night (on the surface) so the party agreed and went to Rystia Zav’s Yurt. At 30 feet diameter there was plenty of room for 21 people, though the Captain, First Officer, and Thergron, went back to the ship, while Nesdeth and Margus stayed with the rescued prisoners and the heroes for a giant slumber party in the luxurious yurt.

Chardalyn consecrated a small shrine to the Luxon in an out of the way place in Mantol-Derith, and the next day set a word of recall to the small shrine. Elmo teleported a group to Zadash, picking up some supplies from the surface world, pipeweed, and an enchanted quiver for Corin. They then teleported to Hupperdook where the group met the new kobolds pups and dropped off the two Duergar and Nicholas Burton to continue his studies under Nadiya Dmytrivna Havrysh high priestess of Sarenrae at the Shrine in Hupperdook. Eberk Orcfoe gets his wish to go back to farming mushrooms, Vistra Trueblood is trying to figure out what to do with her life now. The group collected the profits generated by the Kobolds. They saw Sabrae-Larafay had come back after her process of anamnesis, she calls herself Sabrae-Larafay and is still devoted to her kobolds. She is especially fond of the babies, who she thinks are really cute and cuddly. After a night at their lair the group teleported back to Mantol-Derith. Once back they spent a long rest in Rystia’s Yurt (Folsen the 12th of Horisal).

Kobold Mining Profits: For the previous week during which the Kobolds mining efforts yielded 4000 gp cut fire opal gems.  (Subtracting the mine expenses for the week, 536 gp, so each party member gets  577 gp each once they get back to the Hucksters Lair in Hupperdook.
