Trip Back to Mantol-Derith(Recap from 6-16-23)

(Whelson the 3rd of Horisal 847PD)  After reaching the ship and getting the Ex-Prisoners of the drow situated, the Captain orders the mates to cast off, and turn the ship  heading downstream. Thus starts the long trip back to Mantol-Derith. The Party and Crew had a “Theurgeme style” breakfast as the ship headed downstream. The Crew were introduced to the Ex-Prisoners of the drow:

Cimer Reverence: Middle aged male Tiefling. He is afraid of the water.

Eberk Orcfoe: Middle aged male Deurgar mushroom farmer.
Vistra Trueblood: Young Adult Female Duergar, pretty face and soft beard, (Was once a noble)
Uthemar House Hunzrin: Young Adult Drow, Last of his House, Child playmates with Chardalyn.
Jane Vance: young human female, very big and strong, with long red hair, who wants to be a poet (She was used by the drow for barbarian pit fighting).
Nicholas Burton: young human male, tall blond, a cleric chosen by Sarenrae.
Shiril S'aro (Summer): young pallid Elf female, also a pretty adept Wizard.

That night during the 2nd watch the cavern narrows and the current becomes rough. The waters here are especially turbulent, Grok had to grab the lifelines to keep from falling overboard. The Captain struggled with the helm of the ship and maintained a course that kept the ship from crashing into the solid cavern walls. Soon thereafter the River opens back up and the current flow decreases once again returning to a slowly flowing state as the Theurgeme powered on.

On the fourth watch the vessel hit a shallow area of sandbar jutting into the river and ran aground. The party awoke and joined the crew who jumped into the water to try and free the vessel. While everyone was pushing and heaving on lines trying to free the ship, Five dark mantiles silently swoop down and attack. The battle went fairly quickly and the Party was victorious, the loot they found:

X5 Darkmantle Tentacle (pouches): Worth 10 gp, each.

X5 Darkmantle Otolith: Worth 20 gp, each. 

Once the creatures' stomachs were cut open the group found the darkmantles had recently eaten some poor adventures leaving the gems and metal coins undigested,  200 cp, 500 sp, 1000 gp, 10 gems worth 500 gp raw uncut Diamonds.

(Conthsen the 4th of Horisal) The next day around noon the ship encountered the “Stone Teeth” area they had previously passed on the journey upstream. The Stalagmites jutting up from the bottom of the tunnel were hidden just below the waterline (but most were shattered by Elmo's Shatter spell). The watchers noticed the remaining "stone teeth," which allowed the vessel's crew to navigate through them with relative ease. As the night watches began, a little while into the second watch, two Demonic Darkmantles attacked the watchers on deck. The battle was intense and the cries from the deck managed to rouse the other crew who joined the combat. These Darkmantils were monstrous things much bigger than the previous ones and twisted by demonic energy the battle was fierce and bloody but the group finally defeated these horrors. They found the half digested remains of a noble drow with a ragged coin purse containing:

Coinage and Gems: 1000 pp, twenty five rare gems worth 1000 gp each. 

Harvested from Monsters: 8x, Darkmantle Tentacles (pouches) worth 100 gp each, 2x, enormous Darkmantle Otoliths worth 200 gp each. 

The meat was rancid having been twisted by necrotic demon magics and had to be burned. But after that the rest of the night was quiet with no further encounters.

(Folsen the 5th of Horisal) The first watch of the day was peaceful. The Ex-Drow-Prisoners came up on deck to enjoy some fresh air and stretch their legs. Around noon terror gripped the ship as eight Duergar Raiders, four Females, and four Males, ambushed the ship. Cimer, and Nicholas were knocked out at the onset of the battle, some of the others as well as a couple of the crew went down during the fight. The clerics struggled to heal the horrific wounds, and save those targeted. After a long bloody tough battle the party was successful and vanquished the raiders. The Captain anchored the Theurgeme for a time while so the party could search for loot:

The party found and harvested some interesting Fungus:

Eleven tongues of madness, Five blue mushrooms, Four timmask, and nine purple Mushrooms, Along with a hefty supply of Zerchwood Spores for making flour.

Divided evenly amongst the crew and prisoners 4084gp each 

Looting the bodies gained eight suits of Duergar Studded Leather armor, eight shields, eight heavy crossbows, eight cases of crossbow bolts, and 8 short swords. The journey continued.
