Navigating the Labyrinth (Recap from 9-1-23)

(Miresen the 5th of Dualahei)

The party set up their adamitine tower for the nightlocking everything else outside and had a long rest, as the remaining twenty surviving cultists of the Filthriddens huddled terrified in their tents quietly awaiting their fate. The remaining survivors of the party's combat consist of a mix of humans and dwarves,  eight males and twelve females ranging in age from very young to fairly old. They are terrified at the carnage they witnessed and are afraid of what the adventures will do once they awake. It was a long night for the survivors.

Having freed themselves from the kitchen area, Menard Kasha, and his two helpers Safeal Flaskhand, and Dosgraic Horngut, try their best to restore some semblance of order. These folks were locked in the kitchen area by the now dead leader as punishment for not ‘fully’ embracing the worship of the demon lord. Menard is an older human male and is worried about his daughter Nyasia Kasha, and his twin granddaughters, Vinka Kasha, and Cali Kasha.

Groddirth Greyjaw, wife of Savrin Greyjaw, was watching over their Granddaughter Gibrosli Greyjaw. The Human adult male Rory Bondar is married to Felina Bondar and they were sheltering their young son Julian Bondar.  An older human woman, Maurine Chumak, was caring for her grandson Charley Chumak. A human adult female Kerstin Chornovil, was caring for her mother Galantina Chornovil, and they shared a hovel with Elara Voloshyn an older Human female with two adult daughters Cassidy Voloshyn, and Ancelina Dobroshtan whose husband Gustaf Dobroshtan was one of the cultists massacred by the party during the fight.

As the party woke they saw two young girls carrying food from the kitchen whispering back over their shoulders “Thank you Papa.” A voice from the kitchen (Menard Kasha) softly telling the girls to “Take this to your Mama little ones, it will be ok.”

Savrin Greyjaw, an elder dwarven man, is now the de facto leader after the death of Grisha. He and Menard Kasha sort of stepped up to the leadership position in order to watch over the small group of survivors. The party took pity on the remaining survivors and Elmo transported, via teleport spell, the remaining survivors to his tower in the Felderwin Tillage in hope they could start a new life on the surface. The group then spent another night in the Filthriddens before continuing their journey.

After a long rest the group took off again for the gallery of angles, after a morning of travel through the tunnels the group encountered four gigantic minotaurs who immediately charged the group. The combat was very short, one round of combat, the sounds of detonating fireballs attracted a raiding group of seven “Fangs of Yeenoghu”, charging into combat just as the party thought they were finished. The party answered the charge with a ferocious attack, after another short round of combat, the party finished off all the enemies and began harvesting and looting the bodies:

From the Minotaurs:

384 lbs minotaur beef 12sp/pound in the underdark.

Minotaur Hide(x4) A minotaur's hide is similar to bovine hides, such as cows and bulls. It is known for its durability and resistance to moisture absorption. The hide can be used to make harnesses, bags, shoes and rugs. 4gp Studded Leather +1 (DMG)

They also found a pouch containing: 2 pp, 13 gp, 34 sp

From the Gnolls:

Gnoll Teeth (small pouchs)(x7)Gnoll teeth can be used to create jewelry and decorations. However, the teeth are often used to show proof of a gnoll's death, in order to collect a bounty.  1 gp each pouch

Mark of Yeenoghu (x7) This mark, a brand of a triple-headed flail, is used to pay homage to Yeenoghu, the Ruler of Ruin, a demon lord worshiped by gnolls. The mark has little artistic worth, but it has value among demonologists, summoners, and those that study the abyss.

10 gp each.

Fang's Heart (x7) A Fang of Yeenoghu is touched by Yeenoghu, a demon lord worshiped by gnolls. Their heart is a black mass of flesh that still retains a tiny connection to its abyssal lord. Alchemists, demonologists, summoners and other spellcasters all have uses for the heart. 100 gp each.

Also more pouches containing: 53 gp, 5 ep, 53 cp,  and 14 gnoll ears 5 sp each.

As the group continued on, they heard the sounds of metallic marching in the distance. Deciding to investigate, they followed the sound for 15 minutes away from their intended path through a series of cramped tunnels requiring as much climbing as walking. At the end of this time, the adventurers emerge onto a ledge shelf 15 feet up the wall of a broad, straight tunnel some 20 feet high and equally wide.

They see a curious procession of creatures march along the tunnel below their position. Twelve of the creatures are identical. Each has a round body, spindly arms and legs, a pair of fluttering wings rising above its arms, and a single eye staring out over a wide, smiling mouth. At the column's head stands a creature that looks like an inverted pyramid held up by six legs. It scuttles like a crab. On each side of its body, an eye is set above a mouth. Under the mouth, a single arm grips a spear in its hand. These twelve monodrones and a tridrone have been wandering the Labyrinth since the last ‘Great Modron March’. The modrons became separated from their fellows and trapped here. Unable to find their way back to Mechanus, the modrons have been pressing on (and on and on), knowing that they must find their way back or be destroyed in the process.

The group continued on and camped for the night in the adamantine tower, for a safe long rest.

The next day they started off again and after a long day of travel the group noticed sounds of combat ahead. As they moved forward, the sounds of furious battle grew louder. The tunnel ended at a ledge twenty feet above the floor of a large cavern, this gave the group a perfect view of the conflict below.

A pack of frenzied gnolls and hyenas surrounded a demon, who stood nearly twenty feet tall, with massive arms, clawed hands, cloven hooves, and the head of a bull. This was a Goristro, whose heart Vizeran DeVir had instructed the group to claim.

Leading the gnolls was a figure of fearful countenance, twelve feet tall with the head of a snarling, amber-eyed hyena. He wielded a massive triple flail, whose whirling heads smashed into the larger Goristro. The gnolls around the demon howled their master's name as he struck swiftly, again and again: "Yeenoghu! Yeenoghu!"

The larger demon roared, slashing with its bull's horns and flailing with its claws, but to no avail. Yeenoghu evaded or shrugged off the attacks. The gnoll archers peppered the large demon with arrows, then swarmed the Goristro with bloodlust as it began to falter, crashing to the ground.

In less than a minute, the battle is over. The demon lord Yeenoghu pulls back the Goristro's head by its horns and rips out its throat with his long sharp fangs. Yeenoghu then threw back his head and howled triumphantly, the call echoed through the chamber, shaking the stones themselves. Several wild  hyenas nipped at Yeenoghu's heels leapt onto the Goristro's corpse and began feasting on its flesh. As the party watched, these hyenas transformed into gnolls.

The party, figuring that the Goristro attack may have weakened the Demon Lord, leapt to attack  the triumphant Gnolls and Yeenoghu. This was a longer battle but in the end the adventures were successful and defeated the Demon Lord sending his essence back to the abyss. The party then Loot the area finding:
