Demon Lord Showdown in Darklake (Recap from 9-15-23)
Demon Lord Showdown in Darklake (Recap from 9-15-23)
(Whelson the 28th of Dualahei) As the battle continues, six Cambions make a mad dash for the imitation fog bank, made by the Theurgeme, to escape the Balor and four other demons pursuing them. Upon discovering the ship the demons attacked. The other demons joined in and a pretty intense battle ensued. At one point there was a huge explosion coming from where the demon lords were fighting, startling all in the area. The battle continued and eventually the demons were vanquished and the balor slain, exploding as he fell, dealing almost fatal damage to all within 30 feet.
The explosion dissipated the artificial fog bank, and attracted the attention of the one remaining demon lord. Demogorgon came on fast, attacking the already weakened party. Before he could reach the boat he was hit by the powerful Theurgeme arcane cannons, further weakening the raging demon lord after an intense battle at the ship the group finally dispatched the demon with Mallik delivering the killing blow.
The group set about the task of skinning the demons and gathering the loot:(which took a long time)
Demogorgon's Hide (x1): The hide of Demogorgon's torso is extremely tough and durable. A master leatherworker can use the hide to make armor, clothing, bags, shoes and rugs. 750 gp, can make 3 suits of Leather Armor +3 (DMG), or Studded Leather Armor +3 (DMG)
Demogorgon's Tentacles (x4): The strong tentacle-like arms of Demogorgon have a draining effect on creatures (reducing a creature's maximum hit points). If harvested incorrectly, the tentacles may begin to wither and drain themselves. An expert craftsman can stretch the tentacles and carefully comb them into long, thin fibers. These fibers are then soaked and treated with oils, making them useful filaments for creating ropes and whips, which may be easily enchanted. 1000 gp, enough to make 3 Whips +3 (DMG)
Demogorgon Eye (x4): Demogorgon has a magical gaze that can cause creatures to become stunned, confused or hypnotized. The creature has two heads, each with two large eyes the size of a cantaloupe. These spongy, yellow orbs all have deep, black pupils that swirl with arcane power. Enchanters and artificers seek the orbs, hoping to harness this power. Alchemists can create potions from the fluids in the eyes. They can be used as a ranged attack to throw a demogorgon's eyeball up to 30 feet and it explodes on impact, releasing a wave of arcane power. All creatures within 10 feet of the explosion must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn. The eye is destroyed in this explosion. 1500 gp
He also had a large pouch containing:
3855 gp, 393 pp
The other demons had:
Balor Ash (3 small pouches): Once a balor is defeated, it combusts and often leaves behind enough ash to be collected. The dark gray ash smells of sulfur. Spellcasters can use the ash to summon lesser demons. Artificers and alchemists may be able to craft explosive substances with the ash. 1500 gp as well as a pouch with 2054 gp, 680 pp.
Baphomet's Hide(x1): Baphomet's hide is similar to bovine hides, such as cows and bulls, but much stronger, thicker and more durable. The hide can be used to make harnesses, bags, shoes and rugs. 750 gp enough to make 3 suits of Leather Armor +3 (DMG)
Baphomet's Horn (x2): The iron, pointed horns of Baphomet have many uses. Craftsmen can use the item to create drinking horns, musical instruments, decorations and weapons. The horns may be used to create a powerful helm. 1500 gp can be crafted into a “Helm of Baphomet”
Baphomet's Pineal Gland(x1): Baphomet can visualize every route it might take to reach its prey. This ability to coordinate its senses, and possibly tie into a psionic "third eye", is a result of the creature's pineal gland. The gland is a small pea-shaped ball of flesh located in the center of the brain. The gland is useful to many researchers (especially those studying demonology or Baphomet). Alchemists, artificers and spellcasters may also be interested in the gland. 2000 gp
He also had a large pouch containing:
1122 gp, 397 pp
Graz'zt Blood (x5 vials): Graz'zt blood is a thick red fluid that smells sweet. The blood can be used to make a highly intoxicating beverage that causes revelry, and in rare cases rage. The blood can also be used to create a powerful perfume that is believed to charm people. 400 gp
Graz'zt Tongue (x1): Graz'zt tongue is a slab of spongy, red flesh that hardens upon the creature's death. The tongue can be used by alchemists to create potions of persuasion and charm. It is said that a bard who holds the tongue (even if dried out, and preserved), gains a persuasive gift of gab. When performing to a crowd, a creature that holds the tongue will get a +2 to their performance check. 1000 gp
Graz'zt Heart (x1): The heart of Graz'zt is a black mass of flesh, about the size of a cantaloupe, that continues to slowly beat after his death. The heart can be used to create “Graz'zt Charm”, a magical amulet imbued with some of the demon lord's power. 2000 gp
He also had a large pouch containing:
2238 gp, 996 pp
Destroyed Wand of Orcus(x1): Orcus wields the legendary Wand of Orcus. This is a powerful artifact. It was destroyed by Demogorgon by grabbing it from the demon lord with a contested strength roll and smashing in Orcus’s head with it, releasing a huge amount of arcane energy as the demon lord died. 50000 gp (even damaged and burnt)
Orcus Skin (X1 pouch): Orcus has rotting, dry skin, similar to that of a corpse. It's possible to delicately peel off several strips of desiccated skin flakes. These pieces of skin can be used in dark rituals to create undead. Alternatively, it's believed that the flakes can also be used to create elixirs that halt the undead process from bites and injuries. 400 gp
Orcus' Hooves (x2): Orcus' hooves are made of steel-hard bone, and are strong enough to crush a skull. A skilled weaponsmith may be able to use the hooves to create powerful bludgeoning weapons. The hooves may also be used to create crafts and jewelry. 900 gp can be used to create 4 Warhammers +3 (DMG)
Orcus' Wings(x2): The leathery, bat-like wings of orcus can be sold to collectors or to leatherworkers for their leather. Artificers and enchanters may be able to find other uses for the wings. 1500 gp Wings of Flying (DMG)
Orcus' Horn (x2): Orcus has two large horns protruding from its goat-like head. The horns are heavy and difficult to remove, being firmly attached to the demon lord's skull. The horns are seething with necrotic power. 4000 gp
He also had a large pouch containing:
6232 ep, 4163 gp
Scattered around the other carnage the group found:
4756 gp, 1501 pp
Diving into the murky waters of Darklake, the group managed to find a secret door leading to the Sea hags lair containing:
Coins: 14565 gp, 2759 pp, 20,450 sp
Gems: 24 gems worth 5000 gp each
[12 Jacinth, 6 Diamond, 6 Ruby]
Art Objects (5): 5 art objects worth 7500 gp each
[2 Zurkhwood chests with mithril filigree, 1 Small gold chest set with rubies, 1 Zurkhwood chest with adamantine filigree, 1 Jade and Jet dragonchess board with solid gold, and silver pieces]
Magic Items (5): [3 Potion of Supreme Healing (10d4 + 20), 1 Plane Shift Scroll (Level 7), 1 Dark Star Scroll (Level 8)]
The group stowed the treasure, and started the 19 day journey back to Grimgolir upstream on the Blackrun River. The journey back was strangely uneventful and almost a pleasant journey meeting several other trade ships on their way down to Darklake. It seemed to the group that the trade routes were truly open again.
As they arrived at the Underdark Gate Port and Trading Post in Grimgolir they found a huge celebration was being given in the group's honor and many common folks turned out to greet the returning heroes and honor them with a huge feast. The group stopped by their clanhall to change into fancy clothing, and clean up for a feast at the royal palace as a guest of King Brock Dummaroff and his daughter Eldeth and her friend Yirna.
After selling the items the group chose to sell, the loot turned out to be 32,147gp each.
Kobold Mining Profits: For the previous three weeks during which the Kobolds mining efforts yielded 19,200 gp worth of Silver ingots, and 11,200 gp worth of gold ingots. (Subtracting the mine expenses for the three weeks, 1752 gp), so each party member gets 4775 gp. (Also the week ending the 9th of Thunsheer, 8 new eggs were laid and 9 new pups were hatched in the lair warrens).
For a grand total including the underdark loot after selling all the items looted after the big battle is: (36,922gp each).
